Respiratory Health Network of the FRQS

A lever for research in Quebec

What is the Respiratory Health Network of the FRQS?

The RHN, an overview

A consortium of researchers dedicated to respiratory health research

The Respiratory Health Network of the FRQS (RHN) is one of 19 thematic networks of the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS), a non-profit funding agency under the auspices of the Quebec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export (MDEIE). Since 1964, the FRQS implements governmental strategies for research in human health as defined by the Quebec policy on science and innovation (pdf, in french).

The RHN brings together over 170 researchers, pulmonologists and health professionals working in various disciplines throughout major university medical centers in Quebec. Members of the RHN are associated with thematic strategic groups in the following areas : obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular morbidity factors, inflammation and remodeling, bioaerosols and respiratory health, cystic fibrosis, respiratory infections and emerging viruses, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and respiratory critical care. The RHN also comprises infrastructures that support the strategic groups in the implementation of research projects.

The aim of the Network is to provide a provincial structure in respiratory health based on the participation of researchers in this field, in order to promote the integration of various aspects of research, namely clinical, evaluative, epidemiological and fundamental research, into projects large enough to attract researchers from different backgrounds as well as help enhance the competitiveness of Quebec researchers.
